A New Fish Species

Yesterday I took Isis swimming for the first time. I really had wanted Jeremy to be there for her first swim but the weather never cooperates on the weekend when he's home. So next time. :) But Isis LOVED being in the water. She liked walking on the stairs, kicking her feet, splashing with her hands, and moving "by herself" holding the wall. I think we've got a little fish. :)

Graduation Time

My sister, Katherine, graduated from BYU this past weekend with a double major in Spanish and Latin American Studies. She is pretty much one of the COOLEST people I know. She is always busy doing... everything... Really. Congratulations Katherine!!

While we were in Provo she also watched Isis while we played ultimate frisbee and later went to the temple. What a saint!! (Especially since Isis was having a not-so-angelic day.)

Scientists in the Family

Isis recently took part in a study at UNLV to see if babies could distinguish differences in dance movements. I'm proud to say Isis was able to do so with ideal responses. :) They gave her an "Infant Scientist" shirt for participating and we couldn't resist taking these pictures with her scientist dad. What does that mean, Daddy?

Isis, 300 kVp means that when the electrons strike the x-ray target, and if all mass is converted, the maximum energy would result in a 300 keV photon. And as you already know, bremmstrahlung photons of energies less than 300 keV in the primary beam are filtered out by the primary absorbers...

Why We Eat in the Kitchen...

Things get pretty monotonous for Isis and I, so every once in a while I try to change things up. The other day I decided that while I read our National Geographic Isis could have her snack in the living room with me. When I looked up I saw this:

Uh oh. I leaned over to see how bad it really was. This was the table in front of her:

How did it get that dirty from such little hands? Oh, it wasn't her hands. She used the cracker as a crayon. What a resourceful baby! :)

And how can you get mad at a face like this? I should have known better anyway. At least she had fun... and my patience wasn't tested too much since it came off the table, the carpet, and the couch relatively easy. :)

Ukrainian Eggs

Thanks to my friend Jacqueline, I've been inspired to start a new Easter tradition of decorating Ukrainian Easter eggs. This year I got my own supplies from the Ukrainian Gift Shop and got to work. They take a lot more time than the regular egg dying kits but are so much more fun! I love doing them! Here's what we created.

I had so much fun doing the first ones that when Isis took a nap last week I did two more! :)

And here's Jeremy in the process of decorating his egg. You use beeswax to make your designs; it's a little tricky. Every egg is a surprise when you melt all the wax away at the end! It is so much fun!
